On 2/20/2010 our hearts were broken when we euthanized our beloved dog Maggie Mae. Maggie (a Greyhound, Lab mix) was 10 1/2 and appeared healthy and happy up until 2 weeks before she was diagnosed with Cancer. An ultrasound found it her bladder and uthrethra though it’s probable the cancer was in other places as well. Only one day after the ultrasound, Maggie lost interest in food, slept constantly and began tripping and stumbling. We knew it was time to help her go. That Saturday morning, the sun shone for the first time this spring. Willis (my husband) and I sat with Maggie on the front porch with the cats and let her bask in the sunshine. Then we made a bed on the living room floor and put on some music. Maggie, Myself, Willis and 2 of our other dogs Miela and Rufus all hung out together as we waited for the doctor to come to the house. Thanks to the amazing Dr. Laura Chang from Vet to Pet, Maggie’s passing was easy and peaceful. It’s the hardest thing we’ve ever had to do and we miss Maggie dearly. I still have a shrine for her in the living room with this photo framed, candles and flowers. Maggie was truly the sweetest dog I have ever met, loved by all including the cats and the ferrets. She meant no harm to anyone and was a shy, sweet soul. I adopted Maggie almost 11 years ago at a rescue group in Nashville, TN where she sat in a shopping cart with her litter mates. Maggie was affraid of many things including, thunder, Jack-o-lanterns and Snow Men. Her favorite thing in the world was to play fetch with her squeeky balls and sleep on the sofa. She was an athlete up into her senior years, flying and twisting in the air to catch the ball. Maggie and Miela were best friends all their lives after meeting at 6 months old. Maggie let Miela be the boss (except when it came to catching balls) and Miela groomed Maggie’s face each and every day. I know Miela misses her as well.

Thank you Maggie for your love, trust and patience all these wonderful years. Rest in Peace my dear girl and I will see you on the other side.
